Research the local area
Where ever you decided to buy there is all sorts of information you need to know about the area. Real estate prices, crime statistics, damage statistics are just some of the facts you need to know.
Why are they selling?
There are all sorts of reasons why someone is trying to sell. If you get good information about why they are trying to sell you may be able to negotiate a better price.
Get your financing in place
There are so many rules around financing real estate and it’s getting harder. Make sure you get pre-approved before you start negotiating the transaction.
Visit at different times
Real estate agents will always arrange a visit at the most opportune time of day. Take a look at the place in the morning, the evening and the afternoon to get a better sense of what the neighbourhood is like throughout the day.
Get legal advice
You’re going to be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on this property. It’s a legal process so get good legal advice. It could save you so much money in the future!
