Show Notes

James Whittaker has an incredible track record guiding young entrepreneurs.  After a decade working as a financial planner he became an author with the 2010 book The Beginner’s Guide to Wealth.  The book was a major hit and led to a new career inspiring entreprenuer’s all over the world.   This year James published a new book Think and Grow Rich: The Legacy.  The book is a companion to a film of the same name that looks at the influence of Napoleon Hill’s enormous bestseller.  We’re incredibly excited to have James on the show this week!

In the new book James talks about some of the big ideas in Think and Grow Rich.  One of the skills he talks about is the power of autosuggestion. The goal is to create a written statement about something you want to achieve or to change.  You write as much detail as possible and include what you are willing to sacrifice to make it happen. Then you need to read that statement out loud twice a day.  The process of doing that will create the emotion of having actually achieved it. Through the process of auto-suggestion you will start to believe that it is actually achievable.   You will avoid the distractions and find the resilience to see your goal to completion.

James also think that success has a lot to do with your living environment.  What’s the state of the place that you live? If you wake up and stare at a messy bed and dirty apartment that’s not going to inspire you.  If you’re hanging around people that bring you down reduce your time with those people. Form positive relationships with other goal-oriented people.  When you start doing these things you put yourself on a path to success.

There has been a huge response from people who have read the new book.  James says the biggest change people report to him is how they structure their day.  There is only so much time during the day. We only have a few hours of creative energy every day.  The best way to use that energy is to get your life’s work done first and then get to other people’s work.

How did you make your first dollar?

“Packaging tapes and CD-ROM’s for my father.”

What book should every business owner read?

If you could give advice to your younger self what would it be?

“You’re stronger than you know.  Don’t be afraid to engage with life as soon as possible.”

More about this Show

We started Business Legal Lifecycle to create a simple way for you to understand complex legal terms.  Most importantly we want to help you to develop a plan to take your business successfully into the future.  There’s a startling statistic the underscores the importance of developing a solid plan.  The majority of business owners are just seven months away from losing everything.  A single aspect of your business that is not set-up correctly can shut down your whole operation very quickly.   Legal advice is not cheap and even when you can afford it there is often a divide between lawyers and their clients.  We want to close that gap once and for all.  We want to put legal knowledge and tools into your hand to prevent the worst from happening to you.

Twice a week we are going to deliver those tools right to your home or office with Business Legal Lifecycle TV.  We’ll start the week with Fast Fix Monday, a short 5-10 minute video that will tackle a single issue that businesses have to deal with.  Then on Wednesday’s our main show will feature with more fulsome discussions and interviews all delivered in a straightforward and easy to understand format.
